  1. Over the last several years there has been much research directed towards helping parents and teachers in working with children who have autism. Data from this study concludes that consultation given to parents and teachers affords them valuable skills to help in a child's IEP (Ruble, Birdwhistell, Toland and McGrew, 2011). As educators we are aware that working with children with autism-specific disorders can be challenging and it is imperative that IEP's are appropriate and functional. This study identifies that consultation is beneficial in increasing educators skills and encouraging parents to be involved in the child's education. (Ruble, Johnson, & McGrew, 2011)
